Sounds pretty dull. A tile museum. Portugal has taken the art of tiles to the next level. The prevalence of tiles covering almost everything strikes you when entering Portugal.
Froml Islamic geometric design thru to the Catholic conquest and on to contemporary styles. It's all on display at the tile museum.
Some of the best works are not in the museum at all but are hidden on old buildings only found by navigating a maze of narrow mediaeval streets.
Not to be missed.
Tiles are an integral part of Portuguese history and culture.
Then a leisurely walk home through Alfama district with a few coffee stops on the way. (Along with the now obligatory pastel de nata).
What is Pastel de nata
