If anyone travelling to Lisbon is remotely considering taking a car into the centre, both M and T strongly recommend taking a ride on tram 28 first.
This is the easy way to experience how narrow, steep, hair-raising, and congested the streets actually are.
After tram 28 we both decided that the Peugeot was staying safely garaged for the duration.
It's walking and the metro for us for the next six days.
